Stumbled upon this when I was looking for the lyrics of Dhitang Dhitang. I grew up in West Bengal speaking Bangla even before I could speak Tamil. In my hear I am still a Bengali though I no longer live there. Lovely... song. Have danced to it so many times.

This is a legendary song in the Bengali folklore. This song came out in the early 1950s in order to encourage the newly independent citizens into nation building, which at that time was predominantly an agarian society at that time.
